Welcome to City of Lewiston Planning & Zoning
The Planning & Zoning Services Division is responsible for the preparation, administration, and updating of the Comprehensive Plan, as well as area plans, both short and long range. The Division evaluates specific development plans for conformance to the adopted Comprehensive Plan and provides technical advice to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council on planning issues.
Responsibilities
The Planning & Zoning Services Division is responsible for administering the Zoning Ordinance of the City by providing information to the public on land use issues, processing all land use applications for zone changes, comprehensive plan amendments, variances, conditional use permits, and sign permits. The Division reviews all building permits for conformity to the zoning ordinance and are advisors to the Planning and Zoning Commission on land use applications.
Subdivisions
This Division works with land owners and developers through the subdivision process with administrative and full plats. Subdivisions are the primary method of creating new building lots in the City.
Boards & Commissions
Planning & Zoning staff also provide assistance to a variety of other Boards and Commissions including the Lewis Clark Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization, Beautiful Downtown Lewiston Revitalization Inc, and the Historic Preservation Commission.
